Following the leak of 2018's Eggstravaganza from yesterday, Niantic has officially announced the event. The event begins at 1:00 PM PT today, and lasts until April 2. The Eggstravaganza will bring special 2 KM Eggs (which award double the normal amount of Candy) and double Stardust.
Late last night, another leak came out of the network traffic! Chrales has discovered the Shiny sprites for Togepi, Togetic, Wobbuffet, Magby, and Magmar (Wynaut's Shiny sprite has already been discovered in the past). Notably, these three evolutionary families are the ones used in Niantic's event promotional art. In this article, we'll be speculating about how Niantic will handle their release, and if any more new Shiny forms will come this Easter. |

We're put in a similar position to the Halloween event. We have three new Shiny families to be released in a rather-lengthy event. However, we're hoping that the Eggstravaganza does not go down the line of Halloween. While it was nice to have new content constantly in that event, people had less of an increased chance to find Shiny Shuppet and Shiny Duskull because of their delayed release.
We hope that Niantic releases all three of these new Shiny Pokémon at once. We'd imagine that the special 2 KM Eggs will have an increased rate of being Shiny. While Trainers should be able to get Shiny Togepi, Magby, and Wynaut after the event ends, it would be nice to have the most time possible to hatch the Shiny variants of these rare hatches.
With that said, we think it is possible to see more Shiny Pokémon come later on in the event. After all, there are more Baby Pokémon that need their Shiny variants released. Azurill, Tyrogue, Smoochum, Elekid, Cleffa, and Igglybuff are those Baby Pokémon.
As you may know, Cleffa, Igglybuff, and Azurill all have their Shiny sprites being downloaded from the server. Their evolutions, however, do not. Should Jigglypuff, Wigglytuff, Marill, Azumarill, Clefairy, and Clefable have their Shiny sprites be added during the event, we may be getting a boatload of new Shiny variants this event.
