After Niantic tweeted about a "celebration" of Professor Willow this morning, the replies were swarmed with questions about the Earth Day event they recently announced. Well, hours after that tweet, the event has gone live. We'll be quickly going over everything we know about this event.
SHINY WAILMER: The Shiny variant of Wailmer is now spawning in the wild and appearing in the bonus challenge of Raid Battles! While you can evolve it to a Shiny Wailord, you might want to wait. If Niantic will make us evolve a Magikarp for a Mythical quest, they could do it again (this time with Wailmer or Swablu) for the next one.
EVENT EFFECTS: The MissionBlue Earth Day events had more than enough attendees to unlock the full amount of bonuses. We now have triple Stardust and increased spawn rates of Grass-, Ground-, and Water-type Pokémon. The event was only supposed to last 48 hours, but Niantic has extended it to 4:00 PM EDT on April 30.
