A new update is rolling out for Pokémon GO. Although, this update is nothing to be excited over. Support for Pokémon GO Plus on certain devices, and support for various devices when scrolling through Gyms were formally announced. Pokémon GO Hub did an APK mine and found code for more bug fixes and nothing else. Code has been added for when the Pokémon Trainer Club is experiencing problems. This find was the only notable shoutout GO Hub managed to give in their APK article.
So what's not in the new update's code? No new code to support the upcoming Gym system rework or any other updates. No new graphical assets were added, either. This suggests that Niantic is either behind on the Gym rework, or trying to keep the remainder of the update secret from prying data-miners. As Trainer Tips pointed out in his latest upload, June is the final month of this quarter of the year, so Niantic needs to release a major update this month if they wish to stick with the quarterly update schedule they announced earlier this year. However, Niantic has recently said that the rework will come this summer. Putting these two statements together likely means the rework will likely come at the end of this month, possibly after the leaked Fire and Ice Event.
