Porygon2 was introduced four months ago, but some people may not yet have acquired it. Because it does not spawn in the wild, the only way of acquiring it is by evolving a Porygon with 50 Candy and an Up-Grade. Obviously, Porygon is not a common Pokémon in the wild or in Eggs. And the Up-Grade being bestowed upon a Trainer is the luck of the draw on a 7 Day PokéStop Streak, or, if one is really lucky, out of a random spin of a PokéStop. The point is, meeting the evolution cost for the evolution is difficult. Now, Porygon Candy may have been abundant to some during the Valentine's Day Event, but it is still rare to most rural players.
In Generation 4 (which will likely come out around the same time Gen 2 did in 2018) Porygon2 gains an evolution in Porygon-Z. Porygon-Z will likely cost a considerable 100 Porygon Candy (as well as a Dubious Disc) to evolve to. Porygon's cost to evolve will likely be decreased to 25 Candy. Lets do the math. Evolving to Porygon-Z when it is out (and already having Porygon2) will cost a total of 150 Candy. If one doesn't have Porygon2 already, the total cost will be only 125 Candy.
For a Pokémon as rare as Porygon, 25 Candies is a large amount. Remember, we do not know if Porygon will have increased spawn rates in 2018's Valentine's Day Event, so it is highly recommended by PNN to save whatever amount of Candy you'll need to get Porygon-Z from now on.
Be cautious with those rare Candies, Trainers!
