Mr. Mime, the European regional-exclusive Pokémon, will someday have its baby form introduced into Pokémon GO. Mime Jr. is one of the new baby Pokémon introduced in the fourth generation of Pokémon. But those two classifications, baby and region exclusive, conflict each other.
Within the first few months of Pokémon GO, regionals could hatch from Eggs. However, the Egg had to be acquired from a PokéStop within the boundaries of a specific regional Pokémon. This fact was subject of much debate, and, most likely because of this, Niantic removed regional Pokémon from Eggs. When baby Pokémon were introduced, and even now, they were only available through Eggs. So, the problem is easily seen. How can Mr. Mime and Mime Jr. continue to be regional Pokémon when Mime Jr. will only available through Eggs when it's not allowed to be?
So what will happen once Gen 4 is introduced? The most likely scenario is that Europe will get a new regional Pokémon. All regional Pokémon are one-stage-only Pokémon that have some connection to their region. Looking at the Sinnoh Pokédex, the only one-stage Pokémon are the following: Pachirisu, Chatot, Spiritomb, Carnivine, and Rotom. None of these Pokémon really fit with the stereotypical European image. In addition, Niantic will also need to replace Kangaskhan and Heracross as regionals one day, as they gain Mega Evolutions in Generation 6. So is it possible that regionals could get replaced before this becomes an issue?
Pokémon in other generations, ones that do not suffer from the "future generation syndrome" fit the image for Latin America, Australia, and Europe. Mr. Mime could be replaced by Smeargle, an unreleased Gen 2 Pokémon. Many YouTubers that cover Pokémon GO (Trainer Tips, Ali A, Lachlan, etc.) have predicted Smeargle could be an European regional. Heracross may be replaced by the chameleon-like Kecleon of Generation 3. Kangaskhan could be replaced by Komala, a koala-like Pokémon from Generation 7 (notably a generation too late).
We'll find out what happens when it happens, Trainers!
