raid tiers

The heavily-anticipated Raid Battle system is just around the corner, but some Raids may be more difficult than another. Difficultly will be based on pictures of Rhydon below the sprite of a Raid Boss on your Nearby Raids list. Five tiers of Raid difficultly have been discovered. In this article, we'll be going over what we know about each tier. The Raid Egg pictured to the right will indicate the tier.

tiers  one  and  two

Tier 1 and Tier 2 will have common, weaker Pokémon in them. For example, Pokémon that have been shown in these tiers include Magikarp, Charmeleon, and Ninetales. These Pokémon will have a lower, although still inflated, CP. These types of Raids will, with the right resources, be able to be done solo. Other Pokémon that will likely be in these tiers include Pidgeot, Ariados, Wigglytuff, Xatu, etc.

tiers  three  and  four

Tier 3 and Tier 4 will have rarer, powerful Pokémon in them. For example, Pokémon that have been shown in these tiers include Tyranitar, Gyarados, and Blissey. These Pokémon will have a completely ridiculous CP. These types of Raids will, with the right resources, be able to be done in a small group (minimum two people, excludes Blissey and Snorlax). Other Pokémon that will likely be in these tiers include Arcanine, Houndoom, Meganium, Exeggutor, Donphan, etc.

Tier 5 will have Legendary Pokémon in it. Articuno, Celebi, Raikou, etc. will be included in this tier. This tier will definitely require a large group. To participate in a Raid Battle of this caliber, a Legendary Raid Pass will be required. A large group will definitely be needed, and not much of a problem. Legendary Raid Battles will likely be event-exclusive, which is good news for those attending Pokémon GO Fest Chicago.
