the game is down worldwide

Pokémon GO has been down for the last 90+ minutes. Niantic has acknowledged this issue on Twitter and are working on a fix. Both Trainers using Google and Pokémon Trainer Club accounts to play are unable to login. For the very rare few that can get it, nothing is able to load.

This could be a simple bug, or it could mean that Niantic is working on them (Gen 3).

Check back on Pokémon GO's Twitter and this PNN article for more updates.
UPDATE (9:25 A.M.): The game has become more stable. Many Trainers are able to login, although connection still isn't great. It is recommended not to use Incense or Lucky Eggs at this time, as the servers still are not back at full functionality. It has also been reported that spoofers are being banned.
