With Generation 3 coming in at least one month, Niantic is hopefully working on other new features than just new Pokémon and, possibly, Abilities. So here are four realistic and small things we are hoping to see with Generation 3.
1. New moves
New moves are something that are all but required for Generation 3. Signature moves are something we have been pushing for often, and would still really want. But other moves that boost stats, deal damage would also be a good shake-up in the meta game. But the one thing that would be best is a Fairy-type Fast Attack, because the Fairy-types are missing out without full Fairy movesets.
2. New Berries
When Generation 2 launched, we saw the addition of the Nanab Berry and Pinap Berry. When Raids launched, we saw the addition of the Golden Razz Berry. Every major update so far has introduced a new Berry or two, and we see no reason why Generation 3 will break the trend.
We have four unused Berries in the code currently: the Bluk Berry, Wepar Berry, Golden Nanab Berry, and Golden Pinap Berry. It's pretty obvious what the two Golden Berries would do, but the Bluk and Wepar Berries would be interesting. Hopefully one Berry will be the coveted double-Stardust Berry.
One Berry addition we'd also like to see is the possible double-Stardust Berry and the Golden Berries awarding increased Stardust when feeding them to Pokémon in Gyms.

3. More Shiny pokemon
Obviously, more Shiny Pokémon are incredibly wanted by many Trainers. Although we expect Shiny Shuppet and Banette before the end of the Halloween Event, we need more Shinies. We'd love to battle with a white Metagross, a green Dragonite, or a purple Lapras.
Niantic really needs to be less stingy with Shiny Pokémon and release one or two families every week, or some schedule. Maybe every time nests migrate, a new Pokémon line could be Shiny.

4. New types of Poke balls
Everyone is familiar with the Poké Ball, Great Ball, Ultra Ball, and Premier Ball by now, but there are many other types of Poké Balls from the main-series games that would be interesting additions to Pokémon GO.
Obviously, the Master Ball (which has a perfect catch-rate if it hits the Pokémon) is still sitting in the code unused. But there are Dusk Balls (which increase capture rates at nighttime), Timer Balls (which have increased odds the longer an encounter goes on), and even more that would be a very good addition to Pokémon GO and spice up the capturing encounter.

Let's hope Niantic gives us more than just new Pokémon in December, especially since they are making us wait at least all of November for the full roster of Generation 3.
