Many new developments have surfaced from gaming media interviews and a new update's APK. Let's dive in to all of the news!
WEATHER SYSTEM: Even with the latest update (v0.85.1), the weather system will not be launching this week. The Verge learned that the system still needs some more work, and will be released in a new update later on in the month.
HOLIDAY EVENT LEAK: In an interview with Niantic's Archit Bhargava, TechCrunch learned some new details about the holiday event for the year. Although we have no details on what this event is going to include, we do when it will start. The leaked start-date is December 21.
NEW UPDATE: This new update brought SO MUCH new coding and future content!
NEW LOADING SCREEN: One of the best loading screens yet has come in this update! Featuring an enormous, decorated Christmas tree surrounded by multiple of the new generation's Pokémon.
NEW ITEM: A mysterious new Item has shown up in the APK. The Item, known as the Star Piece, looks to be a Stardust-version of a Lucky Egg. Images for the Star Piece show that they come in bundles of one, eight, and twenty-five (just like Lucky Eggs), so expect them to be in the Shop soon. Can you say "best-seller?"
BATTLE PARTIES: The battle party feature that has been longed-worked-on has had its final code put into place. From reports of those with the update, this feature seems to finally be active.
NEW MOVES: The new moves that were discovered now have there corresponding code in the APK. Doom Desire, Psycho Boost, Take Down, Waterfall, Precipice Blades, Origin Pulse, Surf, and Yawn are the moves we've seen before, but now we have one more! Delibird's signature move, Present, is now a new Fast Move in the APK. This indicates that we'll probably see Delibird for the holidays, as many hav been predicting.
WEATHER SYSTEM: Although it is not ready to launch yet, it does have a lot of code added. The weather varieties are clear, sunny, rainy, snowy, windy, foggy, partly-cloudy, and overcast. Rainy, windy, foggy, and snowy have levels of severity on your map-view.
Weather has some very interesting effects on Pokémon. Bonus Stardust will be awarded, and stage 2 (such as Marshtomp) and stage 3 Pokémon (such as Swampert) will give more than stage 1 Pokémon (such as Mudkip). Pokémon of some types will be temporarily boosted (in the form of attack strength and CP).
No Pokémon are exclusive to certain weather environments, unlike the main-series. Catching Pokémon in weather can guarantee higher IV's, like Raid Battles and Eggs. The following weather environments correspond to to type boosts:
- SUNNY: Fire, Grass, Ground
- RAIN: Water, Electric, Bug
- WINDY: Dragon, Flying, Psychic
- FOG: Dark, Ghost
- SNOWY: Ice, Steel
- NONE: Normal, Fairy, Fighting, Rock, Poison
