2.   save  candy  and  stardust!

Niantic has formally announced the Gym system rework is coming after the ending of the Solstice Event. From APK mines, we know that the Gym rework will likely be a raid system. We also know that there is code in the game that may limit the amount of a species of Pokémon in a Gym to one. Meaning that a Gym with ten Blissey, Tyranitar, etc (or, in the future, Slaking or Mewtwo) will be a thing of the past. With the current system, placement in Gyms is determined by CP, which has lead to Gyms being flooded with Vaporeon, Dragonite, Snorlax, etc. The Gym rework may change placement to be determined by another feature, such as Trainer level or time of placement. Because of these factors, we do not know which Pokémon will be the most valuable in the new environment. With this in mind, it would be best not to power up any Pokémon or spend any of your rare Candies until the rework launches.

3.   SAVE  SNEASEL,  magma,  and  swinub  candies  for  generation  4

In Generation 4, most of the Pokémon revealed were evolutionary forms of pre-existing Pokémon. Weavile, Magmortar, and Mamoswine are three of those Pokémon. Sneasel and Magmar are not common Pokémon and Swinub and Piloswine are rare for some (although like Pidgey for others) and it would be prudent to save the necessary amounts of Candies. Evolving Piloswine and Magmar will likely cause 100 Candies. Evolving Sneasel will require a new evolution item, the Razor Claw, along with a likely 50 Candies. It is worth mentioning that even though Magmortar will be a third-stage Pokémon, it may cost 50 Candies (along with another new evolution item, the Magmarizer) since the first-stage form, Magby, is considered a Baby Pokémon.

There are more Pokémon in Generations 1 and 2 that gain evolved forms or babies in the Sinnoh Region (Gen 4) which will be soon outlined in the upcoming Generation Preparation page.

4.   If  Possible,  buy  lucky  eggs  while  they  are  discounted

With the Gym rework seemingly delayed, we do not (at this time) know if Generation 3 will make an appearance this summer along with Legendary Pokémon. However, Legendaries currently programmed into Pokémon GO will add 11 new Pokédex entries as well as possible new Pokédex entries with the increased spawns of rare Pokémon like Typhlosion, Lapras, and Houndoom. And, if Gen 3 does come out this summer, many new Pokédex entries will be available and granting loads of XP. And, obviously, this will be doubled under a Lucky Egg.

5.   what  we  now  know  about  the  now-live  solstice  event

Hatching Eggs will now award FIVE TIMES the normal amount of XP!

Throw Bonuses (Nice, Great, Excellent, Curveball, First Throw) award THREE TIMES the normal amount of XP! Capturing a Pokémon awards three times the normal XP as well.

Increased Fire-type and Ice-type spawns do not appear to be biome-dependent.

6.   If  possible,  buy  egg  incubators  (and  pokeBalls).  Plus,  don't  use  Pokemon  go  plus.

It was half-unexpected, but Eggs are awarding x5 the usual XP. Having a Lucky Egg down when a batch of nine Eggs hatch would award TEN TIMES the normal XP! This is a ridiculous amount of XP, much more than simply relying on the Infinite Incubator and no Lucky Egg.

If you cannot get to a large amount of PokéStops during this event, PokéBalls will have more buying value during this event with triple XP on catches. If you are a rural player, this may be important (especially if Hounder, Cyndaquil, Swinub, etc. are especially rare).

For once, Pokémon GO Plus is not a good tool for this double XP event. GO Plus cannot award throw bonuses, which is bad if you're all about XP.
