weekend download

july 16 - 30
Due to GO Fest causing scheduling complications, this installment of Weekend Download will cover the last two weeks

1.   Pokemon  go  fest  Chicago

We here at PNN feel like all that needs to be said about how GO Fest went and what happened has already been said. The button's below will direct you the pre-written articles of PNN's recap and opinion of GO Fest.

2.   Pokemon  go  safari  zone:  first  two  events  delayed

After the clear lack of adequate preparation at GO Fest, Niantic has delayed the August Safari Zones. This may be unfortunate for those who have already booked flights, but it is for the best. Niantic has said that they want to provide the best experience possible, and will increase spawns of "rarely seen before" Pokémon in certain European cities in the next few days as compensation.

Some confusion has come about admission to the Safari Zone. Niantic has failed to provide details on admission, and mixed signals are coming from the many different Unibail-Rodamco malls. Hopefully Niantic will use this delay to provide the well-needed details on tickets.

It is very important to note that the September Safari Zones and the event in Yokohama, Japan, on August 14 are unaffected and will still happened on their scheduled dates.

3.   Updates:  v0.69.0  and  v0.69.1

Two updates have come out in the last two weeks. Below are all of the update notes for the new versions.
  - Trainers can now remotely feed Berries to defending Pokémon (Regular Berries restore less motivation than normal)
  - Pokémon information page now shows how a Pokémon was caught (PokéBall, Egg, Premier Ball, etc.)
  - An issue that made iPhone 6 devices to crash has been resolved
  - A Gym's Photo Disc is now able to be spun after a Raid Battle is completed
  - A bug that made the motivation of Pokémon under CP3000 incorrectly decay has been fixed
  - Issue where Pokémon wouldn't return to their Trainers after being kicked out of Gym fixed
  - Search bar functionality improved
  - Spark again appraises for Team Instinct
  - Issue that made the game freeze after all six Pokémon faint in a Raid has been fixed
  - Trainers can now feed Berries to Pokémon with full motivation
  - Issue where some Raids couldn't be completed after time expired on the map view has been fixed
  - Issue that made the game freeze after a rapid application of Potions has been resolved
  - Various other bug fixes and tweaks

Other hidden additions are listed below:
  - Legendary graphics
  - In-game medal for Pokémon GO Fest 2017 and the Pokémon GO Stadium event in Yokohama
  - QR Code reader for event check-in

4.   Legendary  pokemon

Legendary Pokémon are here! Lugia and Articuno are currently available in Raid Battles worldwide. They do have a base capture rate of three percent, but giving the Pokémon a Golden Razz Berry, using a curve ball, and getting an "Excellent" throw will increase your capture chance significantly.

Moltres and Zapdos are nearly here! Articuno will be gone tomorrow and make way for Moltres. Moltres will be available from tomorrow, July 31, to August 7. From August 7 to 14, Zapdos will be available in Raids. No word yet on the return-date for the birds (as t is extremely unlikely that they'll be gone forever) or if Lugia will leave.

5.   The  first-ever  "exclusive  raid"

Originally, the game's code led us to believe that a special Exclusive Raid Pass and an invitation would be needed to participate in Legendary Raids. It turns out that this new pass was for private Raids.

The first of these private Raids was spotted in the American state of Michigan this week. A Redditor posted this picture on The Silph Road. It is unclear whether this was a test or an active feature.

6.   New  PokeStops  and  gyms

Niantic's other game, Ingress, has an ongoing operation: Operation Portal Recon (OPR). Portals in Ingress transfer over into Pokémon GO as Gyms and PokéStops. OPR added another batch of Stops and Gyms last week. More and more new Gyms and PokéStops will come, Trainers! Keep an eye out!
