2. Massive wave of bans
Following the recent wave of shadow bans, Niantic permanently banned a large number of the so-called "spoofers." Those people violated Niantic terms of service by using third-party apps to fake their location are no longer able to log into their account.
After the bans were issued, we set up a poll on Twitter to see what the community wanted Niantic to do about the spoofers. Voters were in favor banning all of them. "Let them spoof" came in a close second. Surprisingly, the middle-ground option of letting spoofers continue their practices under regulations fell in dead last. SOURCE: Community Reports, PNN Poll
3. Earth Day
As a reminder, today is Earth Day. If enough Trainers attend one of the MissionBlue events that Niantic has partnered with, we will receive a Stardust increase for a couple of days. SOURCE: Niantic
4. Mysterious trademark
The Internet exploded with speculation this week after it was reported by Serebii that Nintendo, Creatures, and GAME FREAK filed a new trademark for a Japanese phrase that translates to "Ultra Shiny." People immediately tried to relate it to popular "rumors" claiming a new form of Shiny Pokémon will be introduced in the next main-series games. While these "rumors" could end up being true, we recommend treating them as false until official information gives them credibility.
It is worth noting that the trademark is rather broad, and can cover anything from a new game mechanic to a name of a TCG set to a new line of merchandise. Also, the Japanese adjective for Shiny is not "Shiny," but rather "different color." SOURCE: Serebii
5. Pnn Update: Gen 4 series returns soon
The Generation 4 Preview series will return soon. We've had to delay it with all of the recent news, but are excited to announce its comeback. From now on, we won't be limiting it to Saturdays to properly accommodate for future news. Stay tuned, as we'll be resuming with our Torterra analysis.
6. Weekend Trivia
This Flying-type Pokémon is known for heating up its beak to very high temperatures to deliver burns. Who's that Pokémon: Talonflame, Ho-Oh, Moltres, or Toucannon? Voters were in favor of Moltres, but the correct answer is Toucannon. TRIVIA SOURCE: The Pokémon Company's Official Pokédex
